Bullying Awareness
The idea that a Scout should treat others as he or she wants to be treated—a Scout is kind—is woven throughout the programs and literature of the Boy Scouts of America. When a Scout follows the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law, bullying and hazing situations should never occur.
We encourage all of our Cub Scout Packs to participate in the BSA Adopt a School program to help build, maintain and strengthen relationships with the local elementary school.
As schools across the country continue to limit distribution of information about Scouting to students, it is important that we have good relationships with school principals, school board members and other educators. Strong relationships may mean the difference in being able to communicate what Scouting offers for familes.
Let us know you are interested in Scouts BSA for girls
If you have a daughter that would be interested in participating in Scouts BSA or would like to help organize a troop in your area, let us know.
Webelos to Scout Transition
Webelos can move from the Cub Scouting program to the Scouts BSA when they meet these joining requirements:
Visit the Webelos to Scout Transition page for more information.
Reports Required for Rank Advancements
This is a reminder to Scouting leaders that Advancement Report forms are required to purchase rank advancements in the Scout Shops.
If your unit is using ScoutBook (which we encourage all packs and troops to use), or Internet Advancement (which will be phased out June 10, 2019), you can print the report directly from your computer. The report must be turned in when rank advancements are purchased.
The alternative to the computer reports is manually completing the form (available at www.nlcbsa.org/advancement)
Without these reports, the council may not be able to have accurate records of what the Scouts have earned. This is especially important for the Scouts as the move through the program as dates of ranks earned and time requirements require accurate records.
When you send someone to the Scout Shop to pick up awards, make sure the bring along the Advancement report!
