December Roundtable Information

Note – the Roundtable is usually held at Calvary Lutheran Church but will be temporarily held at the Scout House until construction at Calvary is finished.

Charter Renewal Turn-in Party
 
The completed unit charter renewal paperwork is due back to the District Commissioner on December 19, so we thought we would hold a party that evening!

Mark your calendar to join us on Thursday, December 19 from 6 - 8 pm at the Dairy Queen (1701 Broadway St, Alexandria) for some ice cream while the commissioners review your charter paperwork


Scout Night with the Fargo Force
 
If your Scouts like hockey, join the fun on January 17 at Scheel’s Arena in Fargo to watch the USHL Fargo Force take on the Des Moines Buccaneers. There are different ticket packages available including an “overnight” package that includes a ticket to the game, food and drink voucher, patch, ice skating after the game and campout in the arena.

Klondike Derby
 
If your troop is planning to participate in the Oxcart Trails District Klondike Derby on January 25, please register or contact Mike Partain by email or at (218) 731-5676.


District Recognition Dinner

Mark your calendar for the annual District Recognition Dinner that will be held on Thursday, March 12 at Crooked Willow in Osakis. This is the time when make time to thank the volunteers that make Scouting happen in the Lakes district and in the Scout units. Dinner, fellowship and the presentation of awards will highlight the evening.

Registration will open in February.


Nominate a Deserving Scouter in your Area

We have hundreds of excellent volunteers in the Lake district. This is your chance to help recognize someone that has helped you and the Scouts in your area have an excellent experience.

  • Take a few minutes to complete one of the nomination forms below
  • Submit the form no later than February 4, 2020
  • If the person you nominated is selected, you will be notified.

Order of the Arrow

Are your scouts looking for the next thing in their scouting path? Order of the Arrow is a great way to get more involved in scouting and community service. Greater Leadership opportunities exist, more opportunities for growth, greater ability to travel, and a better way to create friendships throughout the Council. 2019 Membership Growth Incentive

Our goal, as always, is to increase the number of young men and young women that we serve through our life-changing program.  We do transform our communities and have a powerful positive impact on the future!

To encourage unit leadership to pursue membership growth in all packs and troops this fall we are offering the following incentive:

  1. Existing Packs and Troops that achieve growth of + 5 or more youth members over their December 31, 2018, registered members will be given a voucher for one Pinewood Derby car (Packs) or 1 Merit Badge Pamphlet (Troops) for each registered youth member as of the deadline date of November 15, 2019. 
  2. New Packs or new Troops chartered after February 1, 2019, that achieve 10 or more youth members will be given a voucher for one Pinewood Derby car (Packs) or 1 Merit Badge Pamphlet (Troops) for each registered youth member as of the deadline date of November 15, 2019.
  3. All membership must be turned in, processed, and paid for no later than November 15, 2019, to count towards the incentive.
